RHP Daniel Cabrera elected free agency rather than accept the Diamondbacks' outright assignment to the minor leagues. Cabrera went 1-4 with a 6.55 ERA in six outings (one start) with the D-backs, striking out seven and walking seven in 11 innings.

The Diamondbacks outrighted Cabrera to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, but Cabrera declined his assignment and is now a free agent, the East Valley Tribune reports.
Recommendation: Cabrera only appeared in six games with the Diamondbacks in 2009 and finished with an ERA of 6.00. He will likely have to accept a minor league contract from his new team.
