Player Notes
Matt Holliday expects to be fully recovered from the flu by Wednesday's first postseason workout.

Advice: Holliday has been battling flu-like symptoms for over a week and was removed from Sunday's starting lineup in Arizona after the Cardinals clinched the National League Central via a Pirates loss. St. Louis doesn't begin NLDS play until Friday, so the veteran outfielder has ample time to get himself right.

Matt Holliday is back in the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

Advice: Holliday exited Saturday's contest due to the flu, but he's not going to let it keep him from playing Sunday as the Cards try to lock down the National League Central. The hulking slugger is batting .308/.393/.589 with eight homers and 23 RBI over his last 29 games.

Matt Holliday exited Saturday's game versus the Diamondbacks with flu-like symptoms.

Advice: Holliday was 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout before leaving the game. Peter Bourjos replaced him in the outfield. Holliday will presumably sit out of Sunday afternoon's regular-season finale, but he should be fully recovered by the playoffs.

Matt Holliday hit a two-run home run Tuesday, finishing 2-for-5 with two RBI in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Holliday's two-run laser in the sixth inning tied the score and guaranteed him a ninth consecutive 20-homer season. That's remarkable consistency from the 34-year-old, who also reached the 90-RBI plateau in the loss. Holliday is hitting .276/.372/.447 with a handful of games left on the docket.
