Player Notes
Matt Holliday (leg) tallied two RBI in his return to the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday.

Advice: Holliday hit into a run-scoring fielder's choice in the top of the first inning and then thwacked an RBI ground-rule double in the top of the sixth -- both against Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin. Holliday, 36, has a cool .850 OPS and 12 RBI in 20 games to open the 2016 regular season. He missed Monday's game due to some mild cramping in his right leg.

Matt Holliday (leg) did fielding drills ahead of Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Holliday is out of the Cardinals' starting lineup after leaving Monday's series opener with cramping in his right leg, but he was stretching for throws at first base Tuesday without issue and he also took indoor batting practice. "He's bouncing around," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny told MLB.com. "Looks like a spring chicken." There was concern because Holliday missed a large part of the 2015 season with consecutive right quad tears.

Matt Holliday (leg) is out of the Cardinals' starting lineup Tuesday night in Arizona.

Advice: Holliday made an early exit from Monday's game after experiencing some cramping in his right leg. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but the veteran slugger had right quad problems throughout 2015 so this is certainly something worth monitoring. Jeremy Hazelbaker will start in left field and Matt Carpenter will hit third.

Advice: Holliday was replaced by Jeremy Hazelbaker. Fortunately, it's not serious and he's considered day-to-day.

Matt Holliday is not in the Cardinals' lineup Sunday.

Advice: It's just a day off. Jeremy Hazelbaker is in left field in Holliday's place. Kolten Wong is also sitting out for the Cards, as Jedd Gyroko is at second base.
