Player Notes
Major League Baseball has upheld Jose Bautista's one-game suspension.

Advice: Bautista tried to get the suspension thrown out via the appeals process but was denied. He'll serve the suspension on Friday against the Red Sox. Ezequiel Carrera is getting a start in right field in Bautista's place.

Jose Bautista (suspension) is in the Blue Jays' starting lineup Thursday versus the Yankees.

Advice: Bautista had his one-game suspension appeal hearing Thursday morning in New York City, but a ruling probably won't come for another couple days. He is batting leadoff Thursday afternoon against CC Sabathia.

Jose Bautista's appeal of his one-game suspension will be heard this Thursday.

Advice: Bautista will remain active until that ruling comes down. He was handed the one-game sentence on May 17 for his role in a May 15 on-field melee with the Rangers. "Joey Bats" is at leadoff for Toronto on Tuesday night against Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi.

Jose Bautista blasted a two-run home run on Saturday, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Twins in Minnesota.

Advice: Bautista's two-run shot in the third inning gave the Blue Jays an early lead, which looked as though it would hold until the Twins rallied for five runs in the eighth. Bautista, hitting out of the leadoff spot again on Saturday, finished the afternoon 1-for-3 plus a walk. He's now hitting .231/.378/.487 with nine homers and 33 RBI on the season.

Sat, May 21 Rotoworld
Jose Bautista went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and two runs scored Friday against the Twins.

Advice: Not bad for a leadoff hitter. His three-run blast off Tyler Duffey was the big blow in a five-run sixth inning. Bautista was in the leadoff spot for the second straight day on Friday and might stick there for a little bit longer as the Jays try to get their offense going again. Friday was a good start on that end.

Fri, May 20 Rotoworld
Jose Bautista is batting leadoff Thursday against the Twins.

Advice: Well, that's new. The Blue Jays have been in a funk and so has Bautista. The six-time All-Star is hitting just .222 with a .458 slugging percentage. Bautista hasn't hit from the leadoff spot since 2010. Edwin Encarnacion, who usually functions as the No. 4 hitter, will move up to third with Justin Smoak occupying the cleanup spot. The Blue Jays are taking desperate measure to stop their five-game losing streak.

Jose Bautista smacked a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.

Advice: Bautista appealed a one-game suspension that was handed down earlier in the day and then ripped a two-run shot off Chris Archer in his first at-bat of the night. However, things were all downhill for the Blue Jays after that, as they got outscored 11-0 the rest of the way. Bautista has seven homers and 28 RBI on the season. He'll remain active until his appeal is heard.

Tue, May 17 Rotoworld
Jose Bautista has been suspended one game for his role in Sunday's fight with the Rangers.

Advice: Bautista got in the face of Rougned Odor after sliding hard and late into the Rangers second baseman in the top of the eighth inning. Odor punched Bautista in the face and that set off a massive benches-clearing scuffle. Joey Bats is appealing the one-game suspension and will start Tuesday night against Rays right-hander Chris Archer.
