OF Matt Diaz may be closer to going back on a rehabilitation assignment. An MRI of the Atlanta outfielder's left knee revealed that his injured left posterior cruciate ligament had properly healed. Diaz, who injured his left ankle during his recent rehab assignment, ran at full speed and slid on Saturday and felt no ill effects from that injury. He flew with the Braves to San Francisco and expects to go on another rehab assignment in the next few days. |

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta Braves OF Matt Diaz (knee/ankle) suffered another injury while on a rehabilitation assignment in Class AA Mississippi. Diaz, who is recovering from knee problems, slid into a base awkwardly with a knee brace on and injured a nerve below his knee, which weakened his left ankle. "I was told I'd be out six weeks with the knee injury; now this is dragging out toward 10 weeks," Diaz said. |

Diaz (knee) ran at full speed and shagged fly balls before Saturday's game, the Braves' official site reports. Recommendation: If all goes well, he should be on a rehab assignment by the end of the week. |
