Player Notes
Miguel Cabrera is expected to be sidelined for six weeks with a grade 3 left calf strain.

Advice: The Tigers had hoped that he would be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break, but it appears that the All-Star slugger will be on the shelf until late August. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers look to acquire a bat to replace Cabrera in the lineup, or if his untimely injury will force Dave Dombrowski to become a seller at the trade deadline.

Tigers placed 1B Miguel Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left calf.

Advice: It's the first time in Cabrera's career that he has been on the disabled list. This is a major blow to the Tigers and to fantasy owners, as the All-Star slugger was hitting an absurd .350/.456/.578 with 15 homers and 54 RBI on the season. The hope is that he will be able to return immediately after the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, Jefry Marte was recalled from Triple-A Toledo.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said after Friday's game that he isn't optimistic that Miguel Cabrera (calf) will be able to avoid the disabled list.

Advice: The All-Star slugger was forced to leave Friday's game against the Blue Jays after sustaining a left calf strain while running to second base in the fourth inning. He's set to undergo an MRI exam on Saturday, but it sounds as though the most logical scenario has him heading to the disabled list and returning after the All-Star break. The Tigers should have an update on his status after his MRI.

Miguel Cabrera has been diagnosed with a left calf strain and is set to undergo an MRI exam.

Advice: Cabrera sustained the injury while running the bases during Friday's game against the Blue Jays. The Tigers will know more on his status after the MRI, but a trip to the disabled list could be in play here.

Miguel Cabrera was removed from Friday's game against the Blue Jays in the fourth inning due to an apparent hamstring injury.

Advice: Cabrera was running to second base on a 3-2 pitch to Victor Martinez when he pulled up lame. He had to be assisted off the field by the training staff and was walking with a noticeable limp. The Tigers should have an update on his status soon, but any sort of extended absence would be a deadly blow to the Tigers chances of a postseason berth.
