Olivo served his one-game suspension for an animated argument with an umpire last weekend Wednesday, sitting out the Royals' 5-1 loss to the Twins.
Advice: Olivo was also fined an undisclosed amount for what was termed inappropriate actions against umpire Phil Cuzzi.

C Miguel Olivo was named the Royals' Player of the Month for June after leading the American League with a .692 slugging percentage. His eight home runs in June were the most by a Royal since DH/1B Mike Sweeney had 11 in June 2001. Olivo also led the Royals with 17 RBIs in June.

Olivo should continue to see a majority of the playing time at catcher when John Buck (back) returns from the disabled list, the Kansas City Star reports.
Recommendation: Buck and Olivo were splitting time before the former went on the disabled list on May 30. Olivo responded by producing an outstanding month of June - .295 with eight home runs and 17 RBI. "Its tough to sit a guy down who is leading the team in home runs," Royals' manager Trey Hillman said, "especially considering how inefficient we are in scoring runs. To take that guy and put him on the bench doesnt make a lot of sense." Hillman also said he didn't want to use Buck strictly as a backup. One possibility could be giving Olivo at-bats at designated hitter against left handers at the expense of Mike Jacobs.
