Player Notes
Coco Crisp went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a solo home run in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Advice: Crisp got the scoring started with a solo blast in the fourth inning, and he capped it with his RBI double in the ninth. The homer was his eighth of the year and his first since June 26. The 36-year-old outfielder is batting .237/.304/.405 with 41 RBI, 40 runs scored and five steals through 80 games to date.

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said after Monday's game that Coco Crisp (neck) might be ready to play Tuesday.

Advice: Crisp has missed back-to-back games due to neck soreness, but he was able to take batting practice Monday. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Coco Crisp (neck) is out of the Athletics' lineup for the second straight day Monday against the Rangers.

Advice: Crisp was scratched Sunday due to neck soreness and the A's don't want to take any chances given his history. Consider him day-to-day. Jake Smolinski will start in center field and bat second.

Coco Crisp was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to neck soreness.

Advice: Crisp has a history of neck issues, although there's been no indication that this is more than a day-to-day thing. The A's put Yonder Alonso in the lineup in Crisp's place, moving Danny Valencia to right field and Jake Smolinski to center.

Coco Crisp singled in Ryon Healy in the bottom of the 13th for the only run as the A's beat the Rays 1-0 on Friday.

Advice: It was Crisp's only hit of the night, but it came at a good time. He should be starting to lose playing time with the A's needing to go younger down the stretch, but Bob Melvin just can't give him up. He's batting .196/.268/.235 in 51 at-bats this month. He's led off 12 times for the A's in July and scored just twice.

Coco Crisp is in Monday's lineup against the Astros.

Advice: The Athletics plan to give Jake Smolinski more time in center field, so Crisp hasn't played since Friday. He's hitting leadoff against right-hander Mike Fiers. Danny Valencia, who is also expected to take on a reduced role, is serving as the DH on Monday.
