LF Ryan Langerhans has some minor leg soreness, but that's not keeping him out of the lineup, not after he's spent most of the last year in the minors. Langerhans, acquired last Sunday (June 26) in a minor league trade with the Nationals, started four consecutive games beginning Wednesday. Sunday he got his first start against a lefty and had a single and a sacrifice fly. |

Langerhans doubled twice and drew a walk Friday in his second straight start in left field. Recommendation: So far, so good. That's four hits in two games, including three doubles, since joining the Mariners. Langerhans has little competition for playing time in left field. Wladimir Balentien hasn't inspired much confidence and Ken Griffey can barely run. If he keeps hitting, expect to see a lot more of Langerhans. |

The Seattle Mariners put star third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 15-day disabled list after shoulder surgery Tuesday and added Langerhans to the roster. Advice: Langerhans was traded Sunday from Washington to Seattle for infielder Mike Morse. The 29-year-old Langerhans had spent the entire season in the minors, and the Mariners selected his contract from Triple-A Tacoma. |
