LHP Erik Bedard almost certainly won't pitch again until August. Manager Jim Riggleman said as much before Wednesday's game. An MRI of Bedard's ailing left shoulder indicated no damage beyond the shoulder tightness that put Bedard on the DL after his July 4 start, but he has yet to throw off a mound. |

Bedard isn't expected to make another start before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Advice: An MRI showed that the pitcher's ailing shoulder has no substantial damage, but he'll need to participate in some bullpen sessions and show some improvement over the weekend. The injury could be a serious blow for the Mariners, owners of the worst record in the AL. They may opt to take their time with his recovery since their season has been a big disappointment. |

Bedard, who had an MRI on Tuesday, does not have any structure damage in his sore shoulder, the Seattle Times reports. Recommendation: The team ordered an MRI when Bedard couldn't continue an indoor throwing session Monday. There is no timetable for Bedard's return, but manager Jim Riggleman said he was encouraged by the outcome of the MRI. |
