CF Andres Torres returned to the lineup Thursday after a two-game absence, but he did not lead off. Torres began the game in a 1-for-34 slump, leading manager Terry Collins to bench him twice this week in Pittsburgh and slot him seventh in the lineup upon his return. SS Ronny Cedeno led off in place of Torres and went 0-for-5. Torres finished 1-for-3 with a walk.

Torres remains out of the lineup Wednesday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.Recommendation: For the second straight day, he'll ride the pine with Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mike Baxter and Lucas Duda manning the outfield spots for the Mets.
