Player Notes
Jake Peavy once again failed to last six innings in a postseason start, allowing four runs over five-plus innings in a loss to the Royals in Wednesday's Game 2 of the World Series.

Advice: Peavy entered the sixth inning tied 2-2 and having thrown just 57 pitches, but after a Lorenzo Cain leadoff single and an Eric Hosmer walk manager Bruce Bochy decided he'd seen enough. The Royals scored five runs in the inning, including both of Peavy's inherited runners, saddling him with the loss. The start was Peavy's eighth postseason start in his career, and he hasn't completed six innings in any of those eight starts. Even so, Peavy won a ring with the Red Sox last year and has a shot at another this season if the Giants can prevail. Peavy may have a shot at affecting that outcome if the series goes to a Game 6.

Jake Peavy will start Wednesday's Game 2 of the World Series for the Giants.

Advice: Peavy was pulled early in a Game 2 loss to the Cardinals in the NLCS, but manager Bruce Bochy is going back to his veteran for a road start against the Royals. He'll be opposed by young flamethrower Yordano Ventura in a matchup of two very different pitchers. Peavy has struggled to go deep in any of his seven postseason starts in his career, never making it out of the sixth inning. He'll look to change that Wednesday.
