DH Hank Blalock continued his resurgence with a two-run homer in the fourth inning Friday to give the Rangers a lead against Tampa Bay that they would not relinquish. After sitting out the first two days of the week, Blalock has put on a power show with three homers and a double in the Rangers last two games. Blalock's homer was also his 88th at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, moving him ahead of Mark Teixeira for fifth all-time. |

Blalock's second homer of the game, a two-run shot with two outs in the ninth inning, gave Texas a 9-7 victory and moved the Rangers within one-half game of the first-place Angels in the AL West. Advice: Blalock was mired in a 2-for-17 slump before breaking out Wednesday night. |

Blalock went 3-for-5 with a double and two home runs in the Rangers' win over the Angels Wednesday. Recommendation: Not a bad start to July for Blalock, who only hit two home runs in 18 June games (14 starts). He got more sporadic playing time in June with the team playing in NL parks and his bat cold. The team is done playing in DH-less stadiums, so he should have ample opportunity to regain his stroke. |
