Cruz (oblique) will now make two rehab appearances over the weekend, before rejoining the D-Backs during their upcoming 11-game road trip, the East Valley Tribune reports. Recommendation: Arizona has more bullpen depth following the acquisition of Jon Rauch on Tuesday, so there's no need to rush Cruz back into the picture since Chad Qualls is also healthy again after dealing with a sore back last weekend. |

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Diamondbacks RP Juan Cruz (oblique), on the disabled list since July 6 because of a strained left oblique, is on course to be activated the week of July 28. Manager Bob Melvin said Cruz likely would pitch in two rehab assignments, with the first coming on Friday, July 25, before he is activated. |
