Duchscherer (elbow) began a light throwing program on Tuesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Recommendation: Duchscherer isn't expected to appear in a minor league game until late July. Given the numerous setbacks he's had during this process, don't be stunned if there's another setback on the horizon that would effectively end his season. |

RHP Justin Duchscherer was cleared to resume his throwing program in Phoenix. Duchscherer, who had minor elbow surgery in March, has twice had his rehab interrupted by back trouble. Manager Bob Geren told reporters that Duchscherer is in line to pitch two innings in a rehab appearance July 26 if all goes well with no more setbacks. The A's have not decided whether to bring the two-time All-Star back as a starter or as a reliever. |
