C Johnny Estrada went 0-for-4 in his first game after missing nearly three months trying to strengthen his right elbow after offseason surgery. He also short-hopped a throw to second in the sixth inning that shortstop Cristian Guzman couldn't handle. But Estrada is well aware he needs to prove himself quickly to stay on the Nationals' roster. "I'm planning on playing well, so hopefully, it'll work itself out," Estrada said. "I don't know what (general manager) Jim (Bowden) has in the works." |

Washington reinstated catcher Johnny Estrada from the 15-day DL on Friday. Advice: He had been sidelined by a right elbow injury, then hit .281 with a homer and 10 RBIs during a 16-game rehab assignment with four minor league clubs. The Nationals, who entered Friday with a majors-worst record of 36-60, have made 21 DL moves this season, involving 15 players. |
