OF Eric Byrnes, it appears, was told he would have a limited role in 2010 at a meeting with general manager Josh Byrnes shortly after the conclusion of the regular season. That could be a way to induce Byrnes to waive the complete no-trade provision that accompanied his three-year, $30 million contract extension signed late in the 2007 season. He is to earn $11 million in the final year of the deal in 2010.
