OF Dewayne Wise, INF Andy Tracy, C Paul Hoover and INF Wilson Valdez signed minor league deals with the Phillies and were invited to spring training. Hoover and Tracy played briefly for Philadelphia last season. Wise batted .225 for the White Sox, gaining attention with his spectacular catch that preserved LHP Mark Buehrle's perfect game. Valdez hit .256 with the Mets.

The Phillies signed Wise to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, the team's official site reports.
Recommendation: Wise, who preserved Mark Buehrle's perfect game in July with a leaping catch at the wall in the ninth inning at U.S. Cellular Field, hit .225 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 142 at-bats last season for the Chicago White Sox. He'll be competing for a bench job this spring.
