Scott Merkin, of MLB.com, reports Chicago White Sox 3B Joe Crede (back) missed his second straight game Wednesday, July 23, with lower back stiffness. Crede will undergo treatment over the next few days but there is no definite timetable for his return to the lineup. |

Crede did not play in the White Sox's 10-8 win over Texas on Wednesday due to a back injury. Advice: Crede's status is uncertain at this time, and he's had back problems in the past. The All-Star third baseman underwent surgery on his lower back last year, which limited him to 47 games. If Crede struggles with the injury, look for Juan Uribe to replace him. |

3B Joe Crede was a late scratch because of back stiffness, replaced by reserve Juan Uribe. It's the second time this season that Crede's surgically repaired back has acted up, so the situation will be monitored closely. |

Crede (back) will be held out of Wednesday's game but hopes to return to action on Friday, the team's official site reports. Recommendation: If you have daily moves you'll want to get Crede on your bench for Wednesday. The good news for Crede owners is that the back stiffness is unrelated to the back truobles that gave him so much trouble last season. "There wasn't the shooting pain down the legs or stuff like that. It's a stiff back," Crede said. "The biggest thing is with a stiff back, you can favor another part of the body and end up straining a side muscle or an oblique. It's better to take a step back than risk another injury coming from this one." |
