3B Mike Lamb, who lost his starting job to Brian Buscher six weeks into the 2008 season, was designated for assignment to make room for newly added Eddie Guardado. The move costs the Twins the remainder of Lamb's $3.5 million salary for this season, and another $3 million he is owed for 2009. Lamb, who signed a two-year contract as a free agent after four seasons with Houston, batted .233 with one home run and 32 RBIs in 81 games for the Twins.
