Jul 23 LF Pat Burrell and RF Jayson Werth threw out the Mets' Endy Chavez at the plate in the third and seventh innings, respectively, Tuesday night. Phillies outfielders lead the league with 24 assists after pacing the NL with 39 last season. So, why did the Mets keep running on them? "Chavez is a speed guy, and I think that enters a third base coach's mind," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "He's more apt to try and score him. Burrell gave (SS Jimmy) Rollins a tremendous throw, and Rollins made a (terrific) throw on the cutoff." Yahoo! Sports


Jul 21 The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jim Salisbury reports Philadelphia Phillies OF Pat Burrell was unhappy with manager Charlie Manuel's decision to remove Burrell late in the game Sunday, July 20. "I'm upset, absolutely," Burrell said. "I'm upset, and I have been for a long time. It's not personal. I don't want to ever come out of close games." KFFL


Jul 14 Burrell blasted a three-run home run on Sunday, his 23rd of the season.

Recommendation: The snubbed All-Star will head into the second portion of the season with 23 home runs, 57 RBI, 49 runs and a .275 batting average. He has also posted a stellar .404 on-base percentage. His home run and on-base percentage totals are both top-eight in the majors.
