DH Carlos Guillen abandoned his usual policy of batting right-handed to hit left-handed against Boston RHP Tim Wakefield and his knuckleball. Wasn't very successful that way, either, as he went hitless. Guillen normally bats right-handed against Wakefield because he thinks switch-hitting doesn't offer him a particular advantage against the slow, waffling pitch. Guillen served as Detroit's DH Tuesday night as it appears manager Jim Leyland will adopt a rotating DH for the most part.

Manager Jim Leyland moved Guillen up to third spot in his lineup on Monday, the Detroit News reports.
Recommendation: Gary Sheffield was moved into Guillen's former spot as the sixth hitter in the lineup. This is a nice boost for Guillen's value as it should translate into some extra at-bats. However, thus far Leyland has not said how long this roster arrangement will last.
