Speier has allowed just three runs and 12 hits over his last 18 appearances, the LA Times reports.
Recommendation: Speier has done an impressive job replacing Scot Shields (knee) and Jose Arredondo, who was demoted to Triple-A earlier this season. He should continue to pitch in late-inning situations for the Angels.

RHP Justin Speier, after giving up the game-winning home run to Hank Blalock, is allowing left-handed hitters to bat .319 (15 for 47) against him this season. Right-handers are batting .169 (11 for 65). Since joining the Angels before the 2007 season, Speier has given up 25 home runs. Sixteen have been to left-handed batters.
