The Brewers also are weighing a decision on exercising a 2010 option on Looper, who went 14-7 with a 5.22 ERA last season.
Advice: Looper's 2010 option is for $6.5 million with a $1 million buyout because he pitched more than 180 innings last season. If Milwaukee exercises the option, Looper has the right to decline it but he would forfeit the buyout.

RHP Braden Looper will know within 10 days of the end of the World Series if the Brewers plan to exercise their half of his $6.5 million mutual option for 2010. If the Brewers decline their half of the option, they must pay Looper $1 million. He went 14-7 with a 5.22 ERA in 34 starts in 2009.
