RHP Derek Lowe will start Tuesday's game against the Phillies. Manager Bobby Cox can adjust the rotation, thanks to Monday's off day and can send his top three pitchers against the division-leading Phillies in the three-game series beginning on Tuesday. That would be Lowe, RHP Jair Jurrjens and RHP Javier Vazquez. Lowe has struggled in his last three outings. |

Lowe was hit hard Thursday, giving up eight runs (six earned) over three innings in the team's loss to the Yankees. Recommendation: Lowe allowed a whopping 11 hits, walked three and struck out none, so this outing was about as bad as it gets, even considering the defensive miscues. His ERA now sits at 4.53 and his WHIP at 1.38, but a recent three-start stretch against the AL East has certainly played a part in that. Still, his K rate really needs to improve for a big bounce-back to occur after the All-Star break. |
