RHP Chris Carpenter, trying to rebuild strength in his right shoulder, which was weakened by a nerve condition, has begun running around the outfield track, even if he can't throw yet. "At least you feel like you're doing something," he said. "I know it's hard for people to understand, but it's actually easier to stink than being hurt. If you stink, you can go out and try to get better, (but) when you're hurt, you can't do anything. You can't do anything to help your team. You can't do anything to help yourself. Right now, I've got no chance."
