Renteria could find himself sharing playing time with Ramon Santiago if manager Jim Leyland doesn't think he is 100% healthy the Tigers' official site reports. Recommendation: Since returning from a hamstring injury, Renteria has gone 5-14 and is hitting .258 on the season with a mere 34 RBIs. It appears Leyland is going to try and stick with him, but if he goes into a slump or shows any sign of injury, look for Santiago to take his place in the line up. |

SS Edgar Renteria ended another one of his slumps with a bloop single to center in the sixth. Renteria had been 0-for-12 until the leadoff single. He's been hobbled since before the All-Star break by a hamstring pull but is playing through it. "I wouldn't not play him unless I thought he wasn't going to get the job done," manager Jim Leyland said. "But there are going to be balls in emergency situations where he's not going to take a chance at the ball at all." |
