RHP Jon Lieber went on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 11, with a strained right foot. The strain is on the outside of the foot, according to Lieber, who had surgery last year as a member of the Phillies to repair a ruptured tendon. He said the foot has been bothering him for several days. |

The Chicago Cubs placed Jon Lieber on the 15-day disabled list because of a right foot strain on Friday. Advice: Last season, Lieber ruptured a tendon in his right foot and had season-ending surgery on July 6. He said the latest injury is unrelated to his previous foot problems and said he should be ready to pitch again in a week. |
