3B Chipper Jones hoped to be in the starting lineup Thursday against the Reds after taking live batting practice Wednesday and drawing a walk in a pinch-hit appearance that night. However, his left leg bruise was worse Thursday, spreading from the ankle up the calf, after the training staff worked to get the blood out of his ankle joint. "The blood's gotta go some place," manager Fredi Gonzalez said.

Recommendation: Juan Francisco is making another start at third base for the Braves, while Jones remains sidelined despite appearing as a pinch-hitter and drawing a walk in Wednesday's game.

Advice: Jones was hit in the leg by B.J. Upton's hard one-hopper in the third inning of Friday night's game, but remained in the game until departing after the seventh inning. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez is hopeful that Jones will be able to play again by Monday.
