COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) - Walter Payton has long been the notable Columbia native who went on to do great things in professional sports. But in recent years there's been a number of other talented athletes come from the city of charm. Six were recognized on Friday at “The Yards” sports complex. Anthony Alford (Columbia native; Petal High School) – Drafted by Toronto Blue Jays in 2012 Ti'Quan Forbes (Columbia High School) – Drafted by Texas Rangers in 2014 Demarcus Evans (Columbia native; Petal High School) – Drafted by Texas Rangers in 2015 Logan Cooke (Columbia Academy) – Drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018 Johnathan Abram (East Marion High School) – Drafted by Oakland Raiders in 2019
