Top 5 Restaurants in Viera, Florida, for MLB Spring Training Fans
Love MLB spring training? Plan on catching a Washington Nationals game at the Space Coast Stadium in Viera, Fla., this year? I know of five, fabulous restaurants all located within a 15-minute or less drive from the ballpark.
Here they are:
1. Beef O' Brady's
Want a place that will hit a home run with the whole family? Beef O' Brady's is your best bet. It is less than five minutes away on Murrell Road and features a bevy of reasonably priced pub foods. Two cheeseburger sliders, a side, and a drink for the kids will cost you $5. It is open daily.
2. Mulligan's Grill
Looking for a place a bit more refined but still sporty? I'd suggest Mulligan's Grill on Clubhouse Drive. It's also a mere five minutes away at the Viera East Golf Club, and it opens daily at 7 a.m. I'd suggest that you try the loaded nachos for $6 or the Philly steak quesadilla ($8). There is more substantial fare available as well, like blackened mahi and mouthwatering Reubens.
3. Pizza Gallery and Grill
What happens when you combine chicken wings and pizza? Find out for yourself less than 10 minutes away at the Pizza Gallery and Grill on Town Center Avenue. The place makes the most incredible Haring Chicken Wing Pizza Thing. It is truly a work of edible art! Imagine gooey Gorgonzola and mozzarella cheeses, robust tomato sauce, chicken wings, and jalapenos surrounded by a crispy on the outside, soft on the inside pizza crust—you'll get the idea. Yeah, it's that good, and it'll only cost you $16 for a large pie. It opens daily at 11 a.m.
4. River Rocks Restaurant
How does dinner and drinks dockside sound? If you find the idea appealing, the River Rocks Restaurant located just off South US 1 in nearby Rockledge is the place to go. It will take you 10 minutes by car to get there, but, in my opinion, it's well worth the effort. If the weathers is right you can sit outside, enjoy an ocean view and some amazing dock dip (lobster, crab and scallions) or buffalo chicken wings for $8 a plate. It opens at 10 a.m. on Sundays and at 11 a.m. the rest of the week. Don't leave without trying the Mascarpone cheesecake or coconut fried bananas. Who knew that paradise on a plate could cost as little as $6.
5. Malibu Sports Bar and Grille
Did watching the game leave you with a Herculean hunger? Then slip on over to the Malibu Sports Bar and Grille on Barton Boulevard in Rockledge. It will take you 15 minutes to get there and $23 to try and eat your way onto the Wall of Fame. To earn your spot you'll have to face a 2.5-pound, hot-to-trot burger called Juicy Lucy. She's packing jalapenos, hot sauce, cheese, and a 3-pound side of fries. The staff will give you a soft drink and 45 minutes to clear your plate. Success equals free food, eternal fame, and several hours at the gym in repentance. It opens daily at 6:30 a.m.
My family enjoys watching MLB and has traveled extensively.
