Top 5 Dodgers April Giveaways: Fan’s Look

With the start of the 2012 Los Angeles Dodgers' regular season, it's fun to look at some of the upcoming giveaways the team is offering fans. These are free goodies that everyone (or at least the first 30,000 people) who attends the game at Dodger Stadium gets to take home. Here's my look at the top five Dodger Stadium promotions coming up in April:

Clayton Kershaw Cy Young Replica Award - April 11

On the night Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw will be publicly presented the Cy Young Award at Dodger Stadium, the first 20,000 fans at Dodger Stadium will get their own Cy Young Award to take home. This promotion is sponsored by online ticket seller StubHub!, which actually is a good source for game tickets.

Dodger Stadium Replica - April 14

2012 is the 50th anniversary of what I think is the most beautifully designed ballpark in all of MLB. It's just a great place to watch a baseball game. In honor the the anniversary of Dodger Stadium, the first 30,000 fans will get a mini replica model of Dodger Stadium to take home. The promotion is sponsored by State Farm.

Dodgers Sleeved Blanket (Snuggie-type thing) - April 24

If you've ever wanted a Dodgers blanket with sleeves, tonight is your night. Although Southern California can get cold at night even in March, so it may be a useful item. Strangely, the Dodgers Sleeved Blanket is sponsored by Natural Balance Pet Foods. You would think they would sponsor a Dodgers doggy jacket or food bowl.

Bobblehead #1 Don Drysdale and Maury Wills - April 28

Bank of America is sponsoring the first of the 2012 bobbleheads, this one features two true Dodgers legends, Don Dyrsdale and Maury Wills.

Kids Clayton Kershaw Replica Jersey - April 29

The first 15,000 kids, 14 and under, get a cool replica jersey from number 22, Clayton Kershaw. The jersey is presented by Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream and the evening also includes the Dodgers' "Kids Run The Bases", where the kids get to actually run the bases on the field at Dodger Stadium after the game.

Upcoming in May

May will feature a Cooler Bag, a Mother's Day Tote Bag, a Kids Power Necklace (not sure what kind of power that involves) and Bobblehead #2 featuring Dodger great Orel Hershiser and Dodgers Bobblehead #3 featuring that legendary infield crew of Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell and Ron Cey.

Freddy Sherman grew up in Philadelphia, which didn't make being a Los Angeles Dodgers fan easy. He has lived in Los Angeles for twenty years, now able to follow the Dodgers openly and attends games frequently. You can follow him on Twitter -@thefredsherman.
