Tigers acquire LHP McBride from Braves for LHP Ledezma
WASHINGTON (TICKER) —The Detroit Tigers made a deal to bolster their injury-riddled bullpen Wednesday, acquiring Macay McBride from the Atlanta Braves for fellow lefthander Wilfredo Ledezma.
McBride posted a 1-0 record with 3.60 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 18 games with the Braves this season. He has held lefthanded hitters to just a .160 batting average in 2007.
“We are happy to add a pitcher the caliber of Macay McBride to the Tigers organization,” Tigers general manager David Dombrowski said. “McBride is a good, young pitcher with major league experience that gets lefthanded hitters out very well.”
After being selected in the first round by Atlanta in 2001, the 24-year-old McBride compiled a 6-1 record with a 3.99 ERA in 112 career appearances.
Ledezma posted a 3-1 record and a 4.79 ERA in 23 relief appearances with Detroit this season. The 25-year-old southpaw worked in 24 games - seven starts - for the American League champions last season, recording a 3-3 record with a 3.58 ERA.
