Royals trade P De La Rosa to Rockies

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI (TICKER) —The Kansas City Royals traded pitcher Jorge De La Rosa and cash to the Colorado Rockies for a player to be named on Wednesday.

De La Rosa went 11-16 with a 5.64 ERA in 36 games - 33 starts - for the Royals in 2006 and 2007 but has spent all of this season in the minor leagues.

The lefthander is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA, recording 23 strikeouts in 22 innings with Class AAA Omaha.

“Jorge is a versatile lefthander with a good arm,” Colorado general manager Dan O’Dowd said.

Since De La Rosa is not on Kansas City’s 40-man roster, he will be assigned to Class AAA Colorado Springs by the Rockies.

The 27-year-old is 15-23 with a 5.85 ERA in 97 career games with the Milwaukee Brewers and Royals.
