Rockies acquire RHP Ortiz from Twins

DENVER (Ticker) - The Colorado Rockies on Wednesday acquired righthander Ramon Ortiz from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for minor league infielder Matt Macri.

Ortiz, 34, has gone 4-4 with a 5.14 ERA in 28 games - 10 starts - this season for the Twins. He began the season as a starter, going 3-4 with a 5.75 ERA in 10 outings.

The righthander was moved to the bullpen following his start on May 26 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays and has spent the remainder of the season in that role, compiling a 1-0 record with a 4.15 ERA in 18 relief appearances.

In his career, Ortiz is 83-80 with a 4.87 ERA in 248 games - 210 starts - with the Los Angeles Angels, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals and Twins.

The 25-year-old Macri has split the campaign between Class AA Tulsa and Class AAA Colorado Springs. He has combined to hit .310 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI in 82 games between the two clubs.
