Orioles promote P Mickolio
BALTIMORE (TICKER) —The Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday purchased the contract of pitcher Kam Mickolio from Class AAA Norfolk.
The promotion corresponds with a roster move made Tuesday, when the Orioles placed All-Star closer George Sherrill on the 15-day disabled list.
Mickolio, 24, appeared in 15 games at Norfolk, posting a 1.50 ERA and collecting two saves. The righthander was obtained along with Sherrill and outfielder Adam Jones in the blockbuster offseason trade that sent ace pitcher Erik Bedard to the Seattle Mariners.
To make room for Mickolio on the 40-man roster, the Orioles transferred righthander Matt Albers, who currently is suffering from right shoulder inflammation, to the 60-day disabled list.
