Rodriquez could be headed to DL

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA (TICKER) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim closer Francisco Rodriguez fears he could be headed to the disabled list.

Rodriguez, who has been experiencing soreness in both ankles, blew a save on Monday, allowing three runs while retiring just one batter in the Angels’ 6-4 win over the Cleveland Indians.

“I couldn’t get any balance on my back leg, and I was using all arm, not pushing off the rubber with my leg,” Rodriguez told the Los Angeles Times. “I couldn’t locate my fastball. I had no power in my legs.”

Rodriguez coughed up a 2-1 lead but the Angels emerged victorious on Torii Hunter’s game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the ninth.

“At this point, I think I need to go on the DL,” said Rodriguez, who gave up a pair of hits and two walks.

The Angels will determine a course of action after evaluating Rodriguez on Monday.

“You could see with every pitch that he was laboring a bit more,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. “We might have to sit him for three or four days before we make a decision.”
