Twins waive veteran OF Sierra

MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Minnesota Twins on Monday waived outfielder Ruben Sierra.

The 40-year-old Sierra has missed a total of 42 games this season due to a ruptured left biceps tendon suffered on April 29.

Signed in late April, Sierra batted .179 (5-for-28) with four RBI in 14 games for the Twins.

In 20 seasons with nine teams, Sierra appeared in 2,186 games. He has a career average of .268 with 306 home runs and 1,322 RBI.
