White Sox avoiding Figgins, may turn to Podsednik to fill leadoff role

Though his team has been linked to free-agent third baseman Chone Figgins(notes), White Sox general manager Ken Williams told the Chicago Sun-Times that Figgins won't fit into the team's 2009 budget.

The White Sox are in search of a leadoff hitter, however, and they could turn to a familiar source. After a divorce with free-agent outfielder Scott Podsednik(notes) appeared likely as recently as last week, the newspaper reported talks between Podsednik and the White Sox have heated up.

    He had a great resurgance in '09 and did take Chicago to a title in '05 by doing just that..
