Mariners, Tigers reportedly discussing deal
Amid rumors that the Tigers and Mariners are talking trade, The Detroit News opined the teams are a good fit.
The Mariners want a left fielder and a starting pitcher, and the Tigers can offer center fielder Curtis Granderson(notes) and righthander Edwin Jackson(notes). In return, the Mariners could build a package around righthander Brandon Morrow(notes) and a couple of highly regarded prospects—perhaps shortstop Carlos Triunfel and third baseman/shortstop Matt Tuiasosopo(notes).
This past season, the Tigers acquired lefthander Jarrod Washburn(notes) from the Mariners, so the two general managers have some recent history.
Granderson and Jackson are expected to draw interest from many teams, if the Tigers indeed decide to make them available in trade talks.
