Aaron Boone contemplating retirement

Aaron Boone(notes) reportedly is calling its quits.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports the Houston Astros infielder, who had open-heart surgery last spring and returned to the field in the summer, told him he likely will retire.

Boone, 36, underwent surgery in March to correct a heart problem he had had since college. He played in 10 games after being activated from the disabled list Sept. 1.

He's barely played the past few years so nobody would even notice and it's probably better for his health if he does hang it up. He had a few moments of glory and whatever but was not the caliber player his older brother Brett was but he had a few decent years.
