Dustin Ackley: Second Base Experiment

Update: Ackley work out at second base and then attempt to play there in the minors this coming season, the Seattle Times reports.

Recommendation: Ackley played outfield in college, and the Mariners have also considered moving him to first base. GM Jack Zduriencik called the move to second “an experiment” for now. If Ackley can play second, it gives the Mariners a replacement should they decide to deal Jose Lopez(notes) at some point.
