John Smotlz will always be a great, if not the greatest, pitcher in major league baseball. He was most excellent with the Atlanta Braves where he was part of a formidable three man rotation that carried the Braves to 14 straight post season playoff appearances. He always came back solid after injury and/or surgery, whether it was in the starting rotation or closing position. He was both an excellent starting starting pitcher and closing pitcher. John should, and I hope he does, resign with the Braves. The Braves need an excellent and reliable closing pitcher.
