Mets sign RHP Sele to minor-league deal

NEW YORK (Ticker) - The New York Mets on Thursday signed righthander Aaron Sele to a minor-league contract. Financial terms were undisclosed.

Sele, 36, went 8-6 with a 4.53 ERA in 28 games - including 15 starts - with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season. In 103 1/3 innings, he gave up 120 hits, 57 runs and 11 homers, striking out 57.

The 14-year veteran put together five consecutive seasons with double-digit victories from 1997-2001, appearing as an All-Star twice in that span. Hs career record is 145-110 with a 4.59 ERA.

Sele also has played for Boston, Texas, Anaheim and Seattle.
