Mariners RHP Hernandez throws, LHP Rhodes to undergo surgery
SEATTLE (TICKER) —The Seattle Mariners are close to getting their ace back.
Righthander Felix Hernandez, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm injury, threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Friday.
“Felix felt good,” Mariners medical director Dr. Ed Khalfayan said. “He remains on schedule.”
Hernandez was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 23 - retroactive to April 19. He is expected to make a start in the next few weeks.
The news was not as good for lefthander Arthur Rhodes, who will undergo season-ending “Tommy John” surgery on his left elbow. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Lewis Yocum.
