Astros re-sign IF Lamb to one-year contract

HOUSTON (TICKER) —A big season provided Mike Lamb with a big pay raise.

The Houston Astros avoided salary arbitration with Lamb on Monday by signing the infielder to a one-year contract worth $2.7 million.

The 31-year-old made $1.7 million in 2006, a season in which he hit .307 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI in 126 games. The corner infielder posted career highs in runs (70), slugging (.475) and on-base percentage (.361).

In seven seasons and 720 career games with Houston and Texas, the lefthanded-hitting Lamb has batted .280 with 57 homers and 373 RBI.
