Torre happy for Girardi, Yankees
NEW YORK (AP)—Dodgers manager Joe Torre says he was pleased when successor Joe Girardi and the New York Yankees won the World Series this month.
Torre managed the Yankees for 12 years, leading them to four titles before leaving after the 2007 season. Girardi replaced him and led New York to its 27th championship this year.
Speaking before his foundation’s annual gala on Friday night, Torre said it was “surreal” watching the Yankees face the Phillies in the World Series. But he was happy to see some of his former players earn another title.
Torre and his wife, Ali, created the Safe at Home Foundation to fight domestic violence. He says it means a lot that the same people choose to attend the dinner every year and it continues to be successful.

yes we pay good money at a new ballpark that i too liked the other one much better .but so what i ll do and pay whatever price to watch .we travel 6 hours to catch a game.never been disappointed.we bring 25 or 30 people every time all family .our kids are devoted yankees fans .AND HATE THE RED SOCKS.so you see a day at the ball park really is priceless .and you sound just like them cryers

They were deep in pitching, it was just all bad pitching after Lester and we almost broke his leg. Just like the Phillies, deep in pitching, just bad pitching after Cliff Lee and we got him in his second start as well.
Guess that's why the Yankees are the World Champions of 2009.
