Michael Young not ready for Rangers lineup yet
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—All-Star third baseman Michael Young(notes) isn’t ready to get back in the Texas Rangers’ starting lineup.
Young has batted only once since straining his left hamstring Sept. 1, but had hoped to return for the start of the weekend series against the AL West-leading Los Angeles Angels.
After hitting off Kevin Millwood(notes) in a simulated game Friday afternoon, Young decided he’s “just not ready” to play.
Young says he’s disappointed but still considers himself “day to day.”
He woke up Tuesday and felt ready, and was the designated hitter after testing himself. But he left after one at-bat when he got off-balance on a swing. He says his hamstring has been “pretty tight and stiff” the last couple of days.

I really am struggling to see what is going on with these guys. Everything seemed to be going their way. Pudge even returned to spark things up and provide veteran counsel to the young pitchers.
Everything seemed to turn south when Young got hurt. I know he's the team leader and I do love him so, but can the team not man up and fight like the professionals they are in his absence?
They seem to be banking everything on those 7 or so games left with Anaheim instead of approaching every game as the most important one. This ideology is sure to fail. Boston has no such troubles and I think will surely take the wild card.
Sigh...hopefully next year.
