Lidge, Ibanez, Eyre scheduled for surgery
PHILADELPHIA (AP)—Phillies closer Brad Lidge(notes) will have surgery on his right elbow on Wednesday.
Lidge is scheduled to have a loose body removed and Dr. Michael Ciccotti also will evaluate his right flexor/pronator tendon.
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. also announced Saturday night that outfielder Raul Ibanez(notes) and reliever Scott Eyre(notes) will have surgery on Monday. Dr. Bill Meyers will repair Ibanez’s sports hernia and Ciccotti will remove loose bodies from Eyre’s left elbow.
Lidge led the majors with 11 blown saves this season but was better in the playoffs as the Phillies reached the World Series before losing to the Yankees in six games. Ibanez hit a career-high 34 homers in his first season with Philadelphia. Eyre had a 1.50 ERA in 42 games.

And the Yankees only needed a three man rotation to beat the N.L Champions. I must be missing something here.

Great series, too bad there were some bad calls; against both teams, but thats just part of the game. Always has been and how it should remain. For all those who keep crying for video replay, watch an NFL of CFB televised game and see how many and how long the delays are: utterly ridiculous!

Seriously though, stop making excuses for your team. Every team has injuries and payroll doesn't buy a championship. If it did, it wouldn't have taken 9 years for the Yankees to win another one. Get over it. You lost. Give credit where it is due.
Look at it this way: If someone told you before the Series that Howard would break the strikeout record, Victorino and Rollins would hit .200, 3 others would hit below that, Hammels would implode, and Lidge would blow a game, would you have thought they would have won?? Exactly. The team that deserved to win, did. Quit it with the sour grapes. You sound pathetic.

......." money can't buy love"........yankees been yanking off ever since Dbacks got their bats sucked off by yank's championship ho daughter who took the money and ran away from home, and the biotch been servicing other teams with less money until the recession really hit her hard.....so sadly......the only one with any money left even during lean times......her incestual father.......will always be her daddy........moral of the story.....MLB will always be a dysfunctional family.....unless there's salary cap.

Maybe next year. Baseball needs a cap at 110 mil. and probably even way lower than that.

just because we won Championships NOT againist teams that start with the Letter "Y" doesn't mean those teams were bad. They were better than your team that year. And if I'm not wrong the Royals beat the Newark Spankee's that year to get into the World Series. So that means your team was infearior and sucked.

I don't know who your upset at. You may have daddy issues. Did your daddy leave you alone you piece of trash. Are you a bandwagon NY fan from Fremont, California?
Philadelphia...Win....or ....Lose has more character and passion for our sport teams than most city's will ever know.
You obviously don't realize that the Rays are in the same division as the Red Sox and the Yankees and smoked that division. They were the best team in the AL and we won. That's the world series.
Anyway...I'm done wasting my time on a lowlife gangbanger such as yourself. Go find your daddy and learn something about sports and find loyalty to some team you biatch!!

Eagles ZERO Super Bowl Championships, even the "LA" Raiders have a Super Bowl title.. shoot every team in the NFC East has multiple Super Bowl Championships and the Eagles are stuck on nadda
Phillies will not be back in 2010, without Lee coming in July the Phillies wouldn't of made it this year.. simple facts Phillies rely on umpire help, walks and home runs that won't last
Peace all except Philadelphia.. the city of chokerly love

I don't see Halliday in this lineup. Someone had posted that they think the Phils would go after him in the free agent market.
I believe I also saw and heard early yesterday that the Phils would let Brett Myers test his worth in free agency. I suspect the tête-à-tête he had with Hamels may have sealed his fate.
I also thought I had read earlier this year, possibly in April, the Scott Eyre was going to retire after this season. He was signed through 2009. I hope I'm wrong.
