PITTSBURGH (AP)—The San Diego Padres activated reliever Mike Adams(notes) from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Adams, who has a 0.92 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 29 1-3 innings over 30 appearances, has not pitched since Aug. 21 because of a strained right shoulder. He was placed on the disabled list Aug. 26.

Also, manager Bud Black said reliever Greg Burke(notes) has been cleared to return. Burke has not pitched since Aug. 30 because of a sore right shoulder.

Yes, Yahoo messes up the posts by combining old stories. Just look at the URL: it's about Padres moves. That's why the story may be different at this URL over the course of the season.

goalman13. Yahoo is at it again. I posted this like 2 months ago. Prior to most people ever hearing about Latos. Yahoo mixes up posts all the time. If you are ging to crticaize, send Yahoo the e-mail. I can tell you every Padre farm hand that will be worth watching. My post has not made it onto something like 14 different stories.

Wow, I'm sure a pitcher with a ERA 8 will save the Padres! Great trade. BTW, I'm available for a pitching stint and could probably throw a fastball around 60mph (oh, sorry, that's my knuckle ball :-) ). What a season and with no end in sight. I wonder how the Padres will 'spin' this year and the next 5 to get anyone to go to the games?

Simply a matter of time before we see the pitchers who should be called up ('cos they are much better!): Mat Latos and Will Inman. Why not bring them up now and get some seasoning?
